Laura Osorio Hoyos Crowned Miss Mundo Colombia 2018
Laura Osorio Hoyos was crowned as Miss World Colombia 2018 during the grand finale of Miss Mundo Colombia 2018, which took place on August 12, 2018 in Bogotá D.C., Cundinamarca. She succeeds Maria Daza as the new Miss World Colombia and will now represent Colombia at Miss World 2018 wherein Manushi Chhillar of India will crown her successor as next Miss World.
During the same event, Miss Mundo Antioquía 2018, Melissa López was titled as the first runner up, Miss Mundo Bolivar 2018 Paola Márquez Castellín was adjudged as the second runner up and Miss Mundo Tolima 2018, Johana Baldovino finished as the third runner up.
Melissa López will be representing Colombia at Miss Asia Pacific International 2018, while Paola Márquez Castellín will be representing the country at Miss Globe 2018. Meanwhile, Sabrina Soltaus will be wearing the sash of Colombia at Miss Model of the World 2018.
Colombia is yet to win its first Miss World crown. The country has been participating at Miss World pageant since 1963 and came closest to winning the Miss World crown four times in 1981, 1983, 1996 and 2002 when Nini Johanna Soto González, Rocío Isabel Luna Flórez, Carolina Arango Corrales and Natalia Peralta Castro finished as first runners up respectively. Colombia last placed at Miss World pageant under the representation of María Beatriz Daza Núñez in 2017, who finished as Top 40 quarter finalist.
