A’yana Phillips Crowned Miss Universe British Virgin Islands 2018
A’yana Phillips was crowned as Miss Universe British Virgin Islands 2018 on August 5, 2018. She succeeds Khephra Sylvester as the new Miss Universe British Virgin Islands and will now represent British Virgin Islands at Miss Universe 2018, and is now hoping to succeed Demi Leigh Nel Peters of South Africa as the next Miss Universe.
The newly crowned Miss Universe British Virgin Islands 2018, A’yana Philipps, is 22 years old and is a Legal Assistant and a Business Administration student at the H Lavity Stoutt Community College. Besides, she is also a disc jockey who goes by the moniker, Lady Mix.
Soon after her crowning the Vice-chair person of the VI Festivals and Fairs Committee, Xayrna Samuels opined, “We chose A’yana because Helina had already gone and represented the territory internationally so we just decided that we would give A’yana a turn to represent the territory as well. We were not sure if we were getting a budget to do such [pageant] and at the time when we started planning. It would have been too late to go out and start preparing for a show.”
