Natalia Carvajal Sánchez Crowned Miss Universe Costa Rica 2018

Natalia Carvajal Sánchez from San José was crowned as Miss Costa Rica 2018 on April 27, 2018 in the 64th edition of Miss Costa Rica pageant. She succeeds Elena Correa Usuga of Heredia as the new Miss Universe Costa Rica and is all set to represent Costa Rica  at Miss Universe 2018 wherein Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters of South Africa will crown her successor as next Miss Universe.

Natalia Carvajal Sánchez is already a renowned name in Costa Rica, having won the Miss Eco Universe 2016 international pageant. She is a television presenter and has been a part of the popular dance reality show, Dancing with the Stars.

During the same event, Larissa Sancho Chaves was titled as the first runner up and Raquel Castro was adjudged as the second runner up. This year ten candidates were shortlisted to compete for the title of Miss Universe Costa Rica 2018.

The pageant was judged by the eminent jury panel which included, Adriana Chaves (Industrial Engineer and fashion expert), Daniel del Barco (Footwear designer), Laura Segura (Dentist), Christian Herrera (Photographer) and Joaquín Yglesias (Singer).

Costa Rica last placed at Miss Universe pageant in 2013, when Fabiana Granados was adjudged as a Top 16 semi-finalist. Costa Rica has been participating at Miss Universe since 1954 and is yet to win its first Miss Universe crown despite of few placements.
