Demi Leigh Nel Peters Visits South Africa First Time After Her Miss Universe Victory
After almost two months, South Africa finally got the first glimpse of their Miss Universe, Demi Leigh Nel Peters who won the title for the nation after a long drought of 38 years. After winning the Miss Universe 2017 pageant, Demi was welcomed home with a warm welcome on January 24, 2018 at OR Tambo International airport.
The beauty queen was welcomed by her fellow countrymen, media and Miss South Africa Organization along with her friends and family. The newly crowned Miss Universe is now expected to be in South Africa for about a week, wherein she will be a part of various homecoming ceremonies.
Demi Leigh Nel Peters is also expected to grace a meet-and-greet at the Cell C Connect Centre in Midrand, apart from covering Cape Town as well as her hometown, Sedgefield as part of her homecoming itinerary. The South African beauty queen will be hosting a series of her self-defence workshops, entitled “Unbreakable”, in Soweto and Cape Town. In addition, in Cape Town, she will be revisiting victims of the Knysa fires who were beneficiaries of her fund-raising for disaster relief in 2017.
After reaching the airport, Miss Universe 2017, Demi Leigh Nel Peters expressed her ecstasy by saying, “This win is for every South African and for every girl child. I hope you see that your dreams are just as valid, and that if I could, you too definitely can. Thank you to each and every person for coming out and making me feel welcome.”
