Genesis Camila Suero Wins Miss New York USA 2018
Genesis Camila Suero was crowned as Miss New York USA 2018 on January 14, 2018 at The Performing Arts Centre in New York. She succeeds Hannah Lopa as the new Miss New York USA. She will now represent New York at Miss USA 2018, wherein Kára McCullough of the District of Columbia will crown her successor as new Miss USA, who will then represent the United States of America at Miss Universe 2018.
During the same event, Andrea Shen was titled as the first runner up, Briana Siaca was adjudged as the second runner up, Alexis Coates was announced as the third runner up and Rowena Karmy finished as the fourth runner up.
In the same event, Saige Guerin was also crowned as Miss New York Teen USA 2018 by her predecessor Miss New York Teen USA 2017, Isabella Griffith. Saige Guerin will represent New York at Miss Teen USA 2018.
This year 133 contestants competed for the title of Miss New York USA 2018. New York last placed at Miss USA pageant last year when Hannah Lopa was adjudged as a Top 10 finalist. New York is one of the most successful states at Miss USA, and is ranked third in terms of number and value of placement across all years of competition. The state has three Miss USA titleholders under the representation of Jackie Loughery (1952), Mary Therese Friel (1979) and Kimberly Pressler (1999).
