Nia Tsivtsivadze Wins Miss Georgia 2017
Nia Tsivtsivadze from Tbilisi was crowned as Miss World Gerogia 2018 in the coronation eve of Miss Georgia 2017 pageant, which was held on December 9, 2017 at the Batumi State Music Center. She succeeds Ketino Shekelashvili as the new Miss World Georgia and will now represent Georgia at Miss World 2018, hoping to succeed Manushi Chhillar from India as next Miss World.
Subsequent to her win, the newly crowned Miss Georgia expressed, “I am very grateful for the blessing and the warm words everybody has showered on me. I do not even know how to express my emotion and gratitude to everyone, thanks to my girls who I have spent these three months and have never felt competitive one day. It was the best day of my life. I will try to justify the trust, hopes and dignity to present my country.”
During the same event, Larissa Petrosyan was titled as the first runner up to Miss Georgia 2017 and is likely to represent the country at Miss Universe 2018 next year. Meanwhile, Mariam Donadze was adjudged as the second runner up, Nino Sulkhanishvili was announced as the third runner up and Gvantsa Minashvili finished as the fourth runner up.
Georgia is yet to win its first ever Miss World and Miss Universe crown. The nation started participating at Miss Universe pageant since 2004 but has never placed in semi-finals. On the other hand, since its participation in 2003 at Miss World pageant, the nation placed only once in its debut year under the representation of Irina Onashvili, who was a Top 12 semi-finalist along with winning Best in Talent Fastrack.
