Minnesota and Louisiana Stars of Second Prelims at Miss America 2018
Miss America 2018 pageant is about to culminate and the stars of the event have started shining brightly already. The competition kicked off on September 7, 2017 wherein delegates all across from fifty states and District of Columbia showcased their talents.
After Texas and Utah won the first preliminary night, in the second preliminary event, Minnesota and Louisiana managed to wow the judges with their charisma.
Miss Louisiana, Laryssa Bonacquisti won the swimsuit competition while Miss Minnesota, Brianna Drevlow won the talent competition by presenting a classical piano recital. The third night of preliminaries will be held on September 8, 2017 at 7 pm.
Drevlow said she chose the song because it is her mother’s favourite. She also arranged the piece herself on the piano. As the reward for winning the Talent Round, Miss Minnesota, Brianna Drevlow took home $2,000 scholarship after astounding the multitude with her performance of Rhapsody in Blue on the piano. She further added, “I wanted to honor my mother because she is my role model when it comes to being a strong woman,” Drevlow said. “I picked it myself and I arranged it, which is a great use of my master’s degree.”
Miss Louisiana, Laryssa Bonacquisti took home the lifestyle and fitness award during the same event. She said, “It came down to me realizing that I wanted to be healthy for myself. I learned that if I work out every day – even if it’s only for 30 minutes on the treadmill or the elliptical – and everything that I eat is portioned… it’s really looking at food as a nutritional aspect of your life.”
Miss America 2018 will be the 97th edition of the Miss America pageant. It will be held in Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey on September 10, 2017. During the conclusion of the pageant, Savvy Shields from Arkansas will be passing on her crown to her successor. The pageant would be hosted by Chris Harrison and Sage Steele, who would be returning to co-host the Miss America pageant for the second year in a row.
