Chiedza Lorraine Mhosva To Represent Zimbabwe at Miss World 2017
Chiedza Lorraine Mhosva was crowned as Miss World Zimbabwe 2017 on July 22, 2017 in Borrowdale Brooke Golf Course. She succeeds Annie Mutambu and will now represent Zimbabwe at Miss World 2017 in China this December.
Chiedza Mhosva battled out 15 other contenders to win the title. As the winner of Miss World Zimbabwe 2017, she was awarded with the cash prize of $20000 and a brand new car. Mhosva said she is not new to the modelling industry as she was once on the ramp and did photo-shoots for some fashion houses, “In 2014, I entered Miss Parade and was voted first runner-up. I am signed with Decean Modelling Agency in Cape Town, South Africa.”
The newly crowned beauty queen is currently a film and acting student at University of Cape Town. She sailed through her final question and answer well after being asked, “What does this year’s theme mean to you?” replying, “It means love and beauty is not only based on physical features, but intelligence, heart and love and that was what the late Kiki Divaris was made of.”
During the same event, Everlyn Njelele was crowned as the first princess while Kundai Claire Somerai was titled as the second Princess. The People’s Choice Award and Miss Personality was won by Tariro Zvizhizji.
Zimbabwe started participating at Miss World pageant in 1980 and has never won a Miss World crown yet. The nation has cracked the semi-finals five times, with the highest placement being third runner up in the courtesy of Angeline Musasiwa at Miss World 1994.
