Olivia Molly Rogers Crowned Miss Universe Australia 2017: Begins Her Journey with Inspiring Story!
Olivia Molly Rogers was crowned as Miss Universe Australia 2017 on June 29, 2017 at the Sofitel Melbourne on Collins St. She succeeds Caris Tiivel and will now represent Australia at Miss Universe 2017 this November hoping to succeed Iris Mittenaere from France.
Jennifer Hawkins was the last woman from Australia to win the Miss Universe crown back in 2004. Since then the country is yet to win a Miss Universe crown. The newly crowned Miss Universe Australia, Olivia Rogers has been through a lot of challenges in her life. In an interview, she was found admitting, “I struggled with confidence and I was probably bad at ball sports because I was so scared to put myself out there and scared of failing. I have always put a lot of pressure on myself to do well academically and I was focusing on that.”
Olivia Molly Rogers, who is 24 years old hails from Melbourne and is a speech pathologist, artist and model by profession. She is currently seeing Andrew Pretto, who works in a commercial construction.
On being asked what is the essence of being a woman, Olivia opined, “For me being a woman shouldn’t define your place in life. I think in this day and age, and in our country, that we have the freedom to be whoever we want to be, whether it be feisty, sassy, funny, intelligent, sexy, introverted, extroverted, whoever you want. For me it means staying true to yourself and living life the way you want to, not the way you think you should.”
When asked what does it mean to be Miss Universe Australia, Olivia reflected, “It’s being a role model and using my voice for things that I am passionate about and hopefully helping young women in the process – and young men maybe – and also just having a good time. It would mean the world to me. I absolutely love Australia. I love being an Australian. I love going overseas and speaking to people and straight away they are like ‘oh my gosh, are you Australian?’ … that’s amazing. Everyone loves Australians, so be able to represent my country in that way would be incredible. I just hope that I can do our country proud.”
