Hello Sarvani! Many many congratulations for making it to the finalist spot of Miss Andhra Pradesh 2017. How are you feeling right now?

Thank you so much, I feel ecstatic! I’ve been dreaming about this for a long time, and it’s hard to put into words the feeling that envelopes you when you finally see it coming to life. I’m cherishing every moment and feel grateful for the opportunity that has been given to me. It’s definitely one of the most defining moments in my life! I also want to take this moment to again thank everyone who has and is supporting me. It means the world to me.

How are gearing yourself up for the coming auditions? Any insights to your preparations or future goals?

One of the most important aspects to pageantry is a healthy body and mind. The glamorous aspect including the clothes, make-up and hair is already a given. Something that tends to be forgotten is taking care of your body and mind through the journey. For my body, I tend to avoid strict diets and eat well but I choose healthier alternatives for my meals. As far as my mind, pageantry requires composure even in times of stress. For that or for any stressful situations practicing mediation can do wonders. I strongly recommend practicing mindfulness and to take time out of your busy day to recharge your mind, your soul will thank you for it. Other than Miss India, my future goal is to go to medical school, but I am taking it one step at a time!

Who is your biggest inspiration and how has he/she helped you to strive the challenges that have come your way?

There isn’t one specific person that inspires me in life more than others. I am constantly inspired by everyday things and people in very different ways. When I wake up in the morning and the sun shines down on me, I am inspired to make the most of that day. When I see a struggling mother trying to make ends meet, it motivates me to work harder not only because I should not take for granted what I’ve been given but also to work towards helping them.

What quality do you think makes you different from other contestants?

I think all of us made it this far for a reason. We are all intelligent, beautiful and confident women but I think what makes me unique is the fact that I’ve faced two drastically different cultures at such a young age. I will always consider myself Indian, but moving to America pushed me to grow up faster and find a balance between the two cultures. It has not only made me a worldly person but has allowed me to figure out who I am and embrace it. I think in life a key to success is being self-aware.

If you go on to win Miss Andhra Pradesh, how will you use your title and platform in your future endeavours?

I would feel extremely proud to represent my state at the finals in fbb Femina Miss India 2017. I would use my voice to address issues pertaining to Andhra Pradesh specifically. I would also strive towards increasing appreciation of south Indian culture and the beauty in it.

How confident are you about winning this title?

I am confident enough to know I have what it takes, and humble enough to know that I’m not perfect.

Tell us something about your leisure pursuits and your veiled personality.

Eight years ago I discovered a world of beauty and fashion on YouTube. Ever since then I’ve been hooked and it has made a huge impact on me. I love to watch videos to keep up with the beauty vloggers and create my own style by mixing it up. When it comes to my personality, I am a person that is strongly grounded by my morals and values but at the same time I won’t judge someone else for having a different perspective. Hair and make-up is only scratches the surface of who I am, I find beauty in being raw. I enjoy meeting new people and learning about them, but only my friends can attest to how weird I can be when you really get to know me!

As you know, Miss World rests its prominent focus on the “Beauty with a Purpose” project. What will be your BWAP Project for Femina Miss India 2017, if you’re chosen as one of the Top 30 finalists?

Being someone with a pre-medical background, I believe in bettering healthcare for the underprivileged and increasing the importance of preventative healthcare in India. A lot of accidents and health conditions can be avoided with better medical/health awareness. In some areas of the country which struggle with specific aliments, it’s mostly due to lack of basic information. I’d like to work towards improving this because rich or poor, you can’t buy good health so you should give it the respect that it deserves and treat it well.

Have you started working over your “Beauty with a Purpose” project? How are you raising funds and awareness for your project?

I started my project more than two years ago and at that time I didn’t really know if I was going to be participating in the pageant. I have a strong urge to make a difference in my community and that’s what pushed me to pursue this project on my own. I was still a 2nd year in college studying Neuroscience in the United States but I did what I could when I was here in India. I’ve done the research and I’ve been speaking to doctors and medical students about my idea. It has gotten a positive response so hopefully we can start soon!

What do you think is the most important quality every beauty queen should possess and why?

Every beauty queen should have a pure heart and soul, because that’s where your personality stems from. A personality that originates from a golden heart will be beautiful regardless of the differences in other individual qualities.

What incident in your life made you realize about your passion in pageantry? Who assured you that beauty pageants are totally your cup of tea?

I’ve always been a bit eccentric and I would say that in a positive way. I believe that in this life it’s possible to pursue more than one big goal. I’ve always loved pageants but I developed a keen interest in college when many opportunities and leadership experiences gave me the confidence to go through with my passion. I knew that I had the ability to make a difference and I trusted my instinct. I actually assured myself that beauty pageants were my cup of tea, and I’ll proudly say that. My parents absolutely are supportive and I am thankful for that but I did have to prove to them that I knew what I was doing. Let this be a reminder that there are people in your life that will support and love you but at times you need to be your own support first and there is nothing wrong with that. Empower yourself.

What message would you like to give to The Kaleidoscope of Pageantry and your fans reading this interview?

I would like to thank The Kaleidoscope of Pageantry for taking an interest in me and wanting to know more about me. You are doing a great thing here supporting young women on their mission and I truly admire that. And I’d say to them: you are not fans, just friendships waiting to happen!

That was a really interesting conversation, Sarvani. I am sure you have gained a lot more fans after this eloquent session. Wish you all the best for the coming journey, and to the readers reading the interview of this brilliant lady, do not forget to follow her journey to Femina Miss India 2017 on her instagram handle @simplysarv .
