Virginia Argueta Crowned Miss Universe Guatemala 2016

Virginia Argueta was crowned Miss Universe Guatemala 2016 on August 29, 2016. Virginia Argueta succeeds Miss Universe Guatemala 2015, Fabiola Jeimmy Aburto and will now represent Guatemala in the coming edition of Miss Universe 2016 pageant later this year, wherein Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach of Philippines will pass on her crown to her successor.

During the coronation gala of Miss Universe Guatemala 2016, Miss Izabal, Melida Marioly Perdomo was titled as the first runner up. Melida Marioly Perdomo will now represent Guatemala at Miss Supranational 2016 pageant, wherein Stephania Stegman of Paraguay will crown her successor.

Guatemala has placed only thrice at Miss Universe pageant and has never won the Miss Universe crown since its participation.
