Tania Dawson Crowned Miss Universe New Zealand 2016
Tania Dawson was crowned as Miss Universe New Zealand 2016 on September 3, 2016 at the Sky City Theatre in Auckland. Tania Dawson succeeds Miss Universe New Zealand 2015, Samantha McClung and will now represent her country in the coming edition of Miss Universe 2016, hoping to be crowned by the reigning Miss Universe, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach of Philippines.
During the coronation gala, Seresa Lapaz was titled as the first runner up and Larissa Allen was adjudged as the second runner up.
New Zealand holds the record of producing only one Miss Universe winner till date through Lorraine Downes, who was crowned as Miss Universe 1983. New Zealand last placed at the said pageant in 1992.
