An Exclusive Interview With Lyndl Kean- Miss Earth Australia 2016

In a Conversation with Lyndl Kean- Miss Earth Australia 2016

She is exuberant! She is vibrant! She is poised and radiates elegance! She is the newly crowned Miss Earth Australia 2016, Lyndl Kean. Crowned just a couple of days ago as the Earth Warrior from Australia, Lyndl has been now modeling since six long years. She has graced the runway of many prominent fashion shows including, Sydney Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, Hong Kong Fashion Week and Fashion Palette 2013.

Lyndl is a great nature enthusiast, and as a vegetarian, she aims to channelize the Miss Earth platform to raise awareness of the environmental effects caused by animal agriculture.

Lately, The Kaleidoscope of Pageantry got a wonderful chance to interact with the beauty queen whereby she unfolded her ideas, dreams and objectives for the forthcoming journey as she continues to walk on the alleyway to Miss Earth 2016.

Heartiest congratulations, Lyndl for winning the prestigious title of Miss Earth Australia 2016. How are you feeling? How are you enjoying your victory?

Thank you kindly! I’m over the moon and honoured to have achieved this. It’s still sinking in and I’m enjoying every moment. The love and support from friends, family and more has been overwhelming.

This was your second attempt at Miss Earth Australia. Last year you were adjudged as the runner up at the pageant and now finally you have embraced the success! What was it which kept your drive to see the coveted victory persistent?

Anyone who knows me will tell you I am a very driven person who takes knock backs as an opportunity to learn and grow. Placing first runner up in 2015 was a huge accomplishment in itself for me and left me with the hunger for more.

How would you describe your transition from an aspirant of Miss Earth Australia to being crowned as the representative of Australia at Miss Earth? How challenging was the entire journey?

The transition so far has been about continuing my drive, pushing it to another level and stepping up to take on my new responsibilities. The most challenging part has been conveying everything I’m passionate about. There is always so much to say but hard to find the words sometimes.

Who motivated you to pursue modeling and pageant?

From a very young age I wanted to be a model. Despite the reactions I would get, eg “But what do you really want to do?” Or, “You’re living in a fairy tail world, get a real job.” I pushed on, always believed in myself and worked hard.

I’d say I motivated myself. I had a number of idols but at the end of the day it was my own personal drive.

Pageants open doors that modelling doesn’t necessarily offer such as a platform to educate and influence on a global scale with a huge support network.

Who is the most influential figure in your life?

Over the past year I have been following the movements of Leonardo DiCaprio. He has been given the title and role as The Messenger Of Peace at the United Nations and speaks out about the effects of Animal Agriculture. Every opportunity he gets, he speaks out and encourages not only his fans and everyday people, but world leaders to look at and act on making a change to help slow and reverse climate change.

Which beauty queen has inspired you to be a role model to others?

If I had to pick one I would have to say Dayanna Grageda, Miss Earth Australia 2015. Since the day I met her she has inspired me to be a better person and to push for what I believe in. She is strong while always being humble and graceful.

Few countries have already crowned their delegates for Miss Earth 2016, who do you think would be your toughest competitor for Miss Earth 2016 crown?

It’s very hard to say at this point but I think Miss Earth England. She has a great look and England is always very well trained.

What is the most fascinating fact about Miss Earth which made you passionate about joining this pageant?

The fact that it’s not based the best looking girl in a gown or swimsuit. It really is a pageant that seeks out who is most passionate about our Earth.

Australia is waiting to hail its Earth Warrior since a long time. How confident are you about adorning Australia with Miss Earth crown this year?

I will do everything I can to make Australia proud. It’s a tough competition but I know I have a shot so fingers crossed!

What message would you like to give to your fans reading this interview?

I’d like to take this opportunity ask that people think twice before purchasing or using animal products. Animal Agriculture is the leading cause of climate change and if we don’t start making better choices then the world will suffer and so will future generations.  Please also know that no matter what your dream is, all you need to do is believe in yourself and work hard for it.
