Ami Hachiya Crowned Miss Earth Japan 2016
Ami Hachiya was crowned Miss Earth Japan 2016 on July 31, 2016. Ami succeeds Ayano Yamada, Miss Earth Japan 2015. Ami Hachiya will now represent Japan in the upcoming edition of Miss Earth 2016, which is slated to take place in Philippines this October.
Japan has never won the Miss Earth crown, hence this year Ami Hachiya would be striving to be the first Earth Warrior from her nation, hoping to be crowned by the reigning queen from Philippines, Angelia Gabrena Ong.
Japan started participating at Miss Earth pageant in 2001. Misuzu Hirayama was the debut entrant of Japan at the Miss Earth pageant, where she eventually won the subtitle of Miss Friendship. The country gave its best performance at Miss Earth pageant during 2010 to 2012.
At Miss Earth 2010, Marina Kishira became the highest placement earner from Japan by entering in Top 7 finalist spot. Thereafter, Tomoko Maeda and Megumi Noda consecutively went on to place at Miss Earth 2011 and 2012 respectively as Top 16 semi-finalists.
Marina Kishira and Tomoko Maeda won the “Best National Costume” award consecutively at Miss Earth pageant at Miss Earth 2010 and Miss Earth 2011 respectively.
