Justine Ker Crowned Miss Louisiana 2016
Justine Ker was crowned Miss Louisiana 2016 on June 25, 2016 at the Monroe Civic Center. Justine Ker succeeds April Nelson, who was adjudged as the third runner up in last year’s Miss America pageant.
Justine will now compete in the coming edition of Miss America 2017, hoping to be crowned as next Miss America by the reigning beauty queen, Betty Cantrell from Georgia. She was the runner-up during last year’s Miss Louisiana competition where she also won the instrumental performance award.
Although no delegate from Louisiana has ever won the Miss America title, four have placed 1st runner-up. Louisiana is the only former Confederate state without a Miss America.
