Miss World 2016 Moves to USA

The 66th edition of Miss World is scheduled to be held in the capital of United States, Washington DC on December 20, 2016. It is reported that this news was announced by Miss World Organization itself on 16 June 2016.

While the venue is still undecided for the finale, it is believed that the pre-pageant activities will commence on November 29, 2016 with departures scheduled on December 21, 2016. This will be the second time in history that Miss World will be held in the United States of America.

Mireia Lalaguna Miss World 2015

The outgoing queen Mireia Lalaguna of Spain will crown her successor at the end of the coronation night. This year more than 100 countries will be vying to win the coveted title of Miss World 2016 and hoping to be the ambassador of “Beauty with a Purpose”. The contestants will be judged on the basis of various fastrack events, like Top Model, Talent, Multimedia, Sports, Beauty with a Purpose and Resort Wear.

While more than 50 countries have already crowned their delegates for Miss World 2016, other nations have already scheduled their national pageants in the coming months. The Miss World pageant is the oldest surviving major international beauty pageant. It was created in the United Kingdom by Eric Morley in 1951. Since his death in 2000, Eric Morley’s wife, Julia Morley, has co-chaired the pageant.

Venezuela is the most successful country at Miss World pageant with six crowns, followed by India and United Kingdom with five crowns each.
