Deshauna Barber From District of Columbia Crowned Miss USA 2016

Deshauna Barber from District of Columbia was crowned Miss USA 2016 in the 65th edition of Miss USA pageant held on June 5, 2016 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Deshauna Barber succeeds Olivia Jordan from Oklahoma.

During the coronation night, Chelsea Hardin from Hawaii was adjudged as first runner up and Emanii Davis from Georgia was titled as second runner up.

This year 52 contestants competed for the title of Miss USA 2016. Miss USA 2016 was hosted by the much celebrated American actor and television personality, Terrence Jenkins.

The grand coronation gala of Miss USA 2016 also highlighted the live performances by best-selling artists, Backstreet Boys and Grammy® Nominated Country Music star, Chris Young.

Sitting in the panel of venerable jury were Ali Landry, Crystle Stewart, Joe Zee and Laura Brown.

After the introductory opening show, the Top 15 semi-finalists were announced in no particular order:

1. California- Nadia Mejia
2. Missouri- Sydnee Stottlemyre
3. Connecticut- Tiffany Teixeira
4. Hawaii- Chelsea Hardin
5. South Dakota- Madison McKeown
6. Arkansas- Abby Floyd
7. Virginia- Desiree Williams 
8. Oklahoma- Taylor Gorton
9.South Carolina- Leah Lawson
10.Ohio- Megan Wise
11.Georgia- Emanii Davis
12.Arizona- Chelsea Myers
13.Alabama- Peyton Brown
14. West Virginia- Nichole Greene
15. District of Colombia- Deshauna Barber

Nadia Mejia from California won the maximum number of fan votes. TKOP predicted 7 finalists correctly out of Top 15 semi-finalists in the final prediction of Miss USA 2016.

Thereafter the 15 semi-finalists competed against each other in the swimsuit round and the list of semi-finalists was narrowed down to Top 10. The Top 10 finalists spots went to the following candidates in no particular order:

 1. Virginia- Desiree Williams 
2. Alabama- Peyton Brown
3. California- Nadia Mejia
4. Georgia- Emanii Davis
5. Connecticut- Tiffany Teixeira
6. District of Columbia- Deshauna Barber
7. Missouri- Sydnee Stottlemyre
8. Arkansas- Abby Floyd
9. South Dakota- Madison McKeown
10. Hawaii- Chelsea Hardin

This year sash factor did not dominate the Miss USA pageant and the contestants were chosen on the basis of merit.

After the announcement of Top 10 finalists, Chris Young took the stage for live performance as the contestants walked in their evening gowns at the runway. Soon the Top 5 finalists were announced in no particular order-

1. Hawaii– Chelsea Hardin
2. Georgia– Emanii Davis
3. District of Columbia– Deshauna Barber
4. Alabama- Peyton Brown
5. California- Nadia Mejia

The Top 5 finalists underwent a Question and Answer Round after which Top 3 finalists were announced. The Top 3 Finalists were:

1. Hawaii– Chelsea Hardin
2. Georgia– Emanii Davis
3. District of Columbia– Deshauna Barber

The Top 3 finalists further competed in the Final Question and Answer Round, where every contestant was asked to answer a common question, “Define ‘Confidently Beautiful’.”

Thereafter the new Miss USA 2016 was announced and the crowd went crazy with ecstasy as Olivia Jordan from Oklahoma crowned her successor.

Congratulations to the newly crowned Miss USA 2016. It would be fun to see her competing at Miss Universe 2016 pageant, wearing the sash of USA! 🙂
