Heartiest congratulations, Ridima for making it to the finalists of Miss Earth India 2016. Tell us something about your veiled personality.
Thank you Vagisha 🙂 To begin with I am a simple girl with dreams big enough to say that “the sky isn’t the limit, think bigger!” initially a bit shy but once I enter my comfort zone, I am the person you were looking for. I am pursuing my degree in Interior Designing but being a go-getter I welcome any opportunity that knocks my door. I am passionate about dancing and my love for dance has made me a choreographer and a zumba instructor. I am a hard working girl and I put my heart and soul in anything that I do. My zest for life keeps me motivated to push my edges and bring out the best in me.
How are you preparing yourself for Miss Earth India 2016 journey? What are your major agendas?
My new self is ahead and I just need to start now and for that I am working on all aspects for my overall improvement be it following a healthy diet or a heavy workout, or from staying updated about what’s happening around the world to participating in local awareness activities, i am doing everything in my willpower to reflect the best in myself while I stand there at the time of pageant.
How are you gearing yourself up for the environmental programs introduced under Miss Earth pageant?
Like they say,” You didn’t wake up, your dreams just got geared up”, with this agenda in my mind, I look forward to participate in all the initiatives and propagandas introduced by Miss Earth India program which are- ‘Clean India, Green India’ and ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Aandolan’. Being associated with an NGO, I have been part of cleanliness campaigns and awareness programs in my city and I believe my past experiences will help me perform better in my future endeavors. Miss Earth India has given me a big platform to be a voice for all the causes that requires awareness. So I am exposing myself to all the social and environmental issues enveloping me and information is the key to come out with all the possible outcomes which is why I am engrossing myself into reading.
How confident are you about winning the Miss Earth India 2016 crown?
Where there is confidence, there is no place for self- doubt which is why I am pretty confident this time that I deserve to win the title of Miss Earth India 2016. The journey may be difficult but my perseverance and hard work will push me to stretch my boundaries and never giving up the everlasting thirst to be on top.
India has variety of pageants like Femina Miss India, Miss Diva Universe and Indian Princess. But what were the prime motives of choosing Miss Earth India pageant over others?
I chose this pageant over others because of its title itself i.e. ‘Miss Earth India’. This pageant will not only help me in making a mark in the glamour industry but also I can reach out to a large number of followers and collectively we can work towards the communal motive of making India the most progressive country in the world. I am really excited for the beautiful journey that awaits me.
Which Miss Earth has motivated your drive to participate in Miss Earth India pageant?
Miss Earth 2010 Nicole Faria is my sentimental favorite because she is the only winner from India and the current title holder Miss Earth 2015 Angealia Ong because I have been following her work lately and I am really inspired by her. Both of them were outstanding during their pageant and I want to follow their footsteps too.
If given a chance to represent India at Miss Earth 2016, how would you reflect the beauty of India at the international arena?
India being the creative burst of cultures, religions, races and tongues, it will give me immense happiness to reflect its beauty on the international platform through me in the form of my attires, my performance, my introduction video and my conversation with other delegates. I want to represent India through its rich heritage and the colorful traditional look.
Who is your ideal beauty queen and how has she helped you to evolve as a beauty queen?
Every beauty queen India has produced over the years have inspired me in one or the other way. But Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra are closest to my heart. They are in true sense the women of substance. They have excelled in all aspects from acting to being ambassador of India, have brought laurel to our country and are still continuing do so.
Which incident in your life made you realize about your passion in pageantry? Who assured you that beauty pageants are totally your cup of tea?
Ever since when I was a small girl, they asked, “What do you want to be?” and like a small baby, I said, “I want to be beautiful.” During those childhood days it was all about pretty dresses, the Disneyland fairies and the Tiara. In the passing instance of time I did not realise when those naive dreams became the ultimate passion running in my veins. The more I followed it, the more I wanted to be a part of it which made me land up being a finalist of Miss India Kolkata, and that’s when I realized that this is all I want. In that four days pageant I discovered a lot about me, and the support I got from everyone and guidance of Ritika Ramtri Ma’am gave me confidence throughout.
What message would you like to give to The Kaleidoscope of Pageantry and your fans reading this interview?
Firstly I want to thank Kaleidoscope of Pageantry for interviewing me. Secondly, a special thanks to everyone who have supported me in my journey so far. Last but not the least, thank you for all the suggestions, appreciation and love throughout, this is what kept me going. And I just want to say that this life is too short so never waste a moment and start working from this instant to make your dreams, reality and live every moment to the fullest with a smile that could light up your whole world.
Thanks for the wonderful interaction, Ridima. It was a pleasure knowing you more and wish you all the very best as you traverse on the alleyway of Miss Earth India 2016.
