Rewati Chetri is Aspiring To Be Earth Warrior! – An Interview
Rewati Chetri is not a new name in the world of pageantry! After winning Miss Popular at Femina Miss India 2015 and placing as a Top 10 finalist at the same, Rewati later represented India at World Miss University, where she won the “Continental Queen of Asia” title. This time, Rewati Chetri is back with a bang, and has made sure that she will not just conquer the Miss Earth India title but also the much awaited Miss Earth crown for India.
This proudly North-East Indian beauty dreams of adorning India with Miss Earth crown. In an interview with The Kaleidoscope of Pageantry, Rewati wonderfully narrates the story of her life, expressing how she has evolved in this one year as a beauty queen! Have a look!
Heartiest congratulations, Rewati for making India proud with your spectacular performance at Miss World University and also for making it to the finalists of Miss Earth India 2016. Tell us something about your veiled personality.
Thank you so much. Your wishes truly mean a lot to me. To be honest I am a very open person who accepts everything that comes by my way with a beautiful smile. I stay as humble as possible so that people around me would feel good and comfortable to have me around. I am indeed the person who would behave crazy and anyone would love to have me around, at least people say so (laughs). There is also a serious side of mine that is veiled. I am very determined and focused. I may not look like so but yes I am.
You are not new to pageantry and have already accomplished your triumph at Femina Miss India 2015 by winning Miss Popular title and latter by bagging the Continental Queen of Asia title at World Miss University 2015. What were the things you learnt in the entire voyage of pageantry and what were the most memorable incidents of the journey?
A very important thing I have learnt in my voyage of pageantry is that you need to always be yourself. Specially during the World Miss University 2016 pageant even though I was not very well prepared as I left for the pageant with very short notice yet I managed to bag the Miss Asia title is definitely because I do not give space to be who I am not. The panel of judges and the organizers do not always expect you to give the best answer or rather a pageant rehearsed answer at the interviews you face but they look for honesty. They are aware that a beauty queen is also just another young girl. After all, people should like you for who you really are and not who you pretend to become.
How are you preparing yourself for Miss Earth India 2016 journey? What are your chief plans?
This time I am really focused. Focused on developing every area! I have been listening to everyone’s views about my weaknesses and have taken measures to improve them. I have started working out very hard along with yoga for both physical and mental fitness. I am also working on my diction to become a better communicator. I have started on dancing classes as well so that I can do well at the talent round. Skin care, hair care and many more things are there in my list.
How are you gearing yourself up for the environmental programs introduced under Miss Earth pageant?
I truly love the environmental projects chosen by the Miss Earth India Organization. ‘Waste Free India’ is something all of us expect and wish for but people should realize that a small change in each of us can create a great impact on a better and cleaner society. ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ is something every girl would like to work on. Increasing women empowerment and educating them is something that I really would love to work for.
How confident are you about winning the Miss Earth India 2016 crown?
I am really confident about winning. It’s because I am working really hard towards winning the crown. It’s not only the Miss Earth India pageant but also the Miss Earth pageant. With the level of effort I exert and prior experience I really believe I can make it to the crown.
Which Miss Earth has motivated your drive to participate in Miss Earth India pageant?
I honestly love Miss Earth 2014, Jamie Herrell of the Philippines. Something unique I saw in her is she opens up to who she actually is. She not only reveals her life as a beauty queen but also as a normal girl. That’s really inspiring to me. She is not only a beauty queen externally but internally I feel she is really beautiful as well.
If given a chance to represent India at Miss Earth 2016, how would you reflect the beauty of India at the international arena?
The unique rich heritage of our country that is among the oldest of the world, the beautiful nature, the generosity and unity of the people, the talents and skills possessed by people of our country that makes us internationally recognized, the diversity of religions, languages and cultures, the patriotism for the country and above all the love and care all of us have towards each other are a few matters I will emphasize on.
Who is your ideal beauty queen and how has she helped you to evolve as a beauty queen?
I cannot exactly mention one person. Most of the beauty queens of the past have had successful futures and we have a lot to learn from each of them. I admire the beauty of Aishwarya, the acting skills of Priyanka, the communication skills of Lara and the intelligence of Sushmita. Each of them and many others are those whom I look upon as my ideal beauty queen.
What incident in your life made you realize about your passion in pageantry? Who assured you that beauty pageants are totally your cup of tea?
I was very raw and new to the industry when I was at Miss India 2015 yet I managed to win the love of people allowing me to bag two sub contests and a top 10 spot. I left to China for World Miss University after very short notice. To be precise less than a month! Since I was already committed to other work I hardly had time to prepare yet bagged the Miss Asia title. This makes me feel that there is some positive connection between me and pageants. With commitment and hard work I am sure I can make it bigger and that is what I am focused on this time. My parents are of course a great support to me at pageants and everything else. They believe that I can win it more than I believe it myself.
What message would you like to give to The Kaleidoscope of Pageantry and your fans reading this interview?

I am truly blessed with a wonderful fan family who motivates me and drives me towards the better all the time. I am expecting all of your love, support and blessings this time as well.
