Iceland is Back at Miss Universe!
After seven years of absence at Miss Universe, Iceland will make a return in Miss Universe 2016. Today, the President of Miss Universe Organization, Paula Shugart scheduled a meeting with Manuela Osk and Jorge Esteban and after signing a contract with them, appointed them as the new National Directors of Miss Universe Iceland.
Iceland last competed and placed at Miss Universe in 2009 through Ingibjörg Egilsdóttir, who brought the Top 15 placement for Iceland at the said pageant.
Iceland first competed at Miss Universe in 1956 and has produced five placements at Miss Universe till date. The only time Iceland reached closest to Miss Universe crown was in 1962 when Anna Geirsdóttir was placed as first runner up at Miss Universe 1962. Iceland has also won “Miss Congeniality” subtitle at Miss Universe twice.
Wishing Manuela Osk and Jorge Esteban all the very best for this adventurous venture!
