Heartiest congratulations, Gurusha for making it to the finalists of Miss Earth India 2016. Tell us something about your veiled personality.
Thank you so much, Vagisha! I am a 20 years old girl from a small town Bareilly with big dreams .Though I look very calm and poised but fun-loving, friendly and chirpy are the words that best describe me.
You are not new to pageantry and have already won few pageants before entering Miss Earth India. What were the things you learnt during the course of the pageant journey?
The journey of pageant is similar to journey of life wherein you learn different things not only from different persons but also from different situations. The things I believe I improved most during my pageant journey are resources management and tackling high pressure in odd circumstances.
How are you preparing yourself for Miss Earth India 2016 journey? What are your chief plans?
I am working really hard to win Miss Earth India 2016. I am regular with gym and following a healthy diet plan. Also, I make sure to devote my time daily to my favourite sports . As I m working on various projects like “Waste Free India”, “Betti Bachao Betti Padhao”, “Go green & Save Animals.” My chief planes to give my best at pageant, be fit, be prepared and make sure to carry the message across of earth saviour.
How are you gearing yourself up for the environmental programs introduced under Miss Earth pageant?
I have previously associated with “Sawasth Chetna”, an NGO working towards environmental causes. Through them I have been spreading the message of “Waste Free India” and “Betti bachao Beti Padhao” across the city. Also, I have been visiting schools, colleges, coaching institutes, interacting with the younger generation and their parents and making them aware of needs of the hour to save the mother earth and benefits of waste free management. Recently we planted 1000 saplings across the street and I will continue my endeavor to save the planet earth.
How confident are you about winning the Miss Earth India 2016 crown?
Seeing my preparations and dedication and causes for which I am working for, makes me quite confident for winning the crown of Miss Earth India 2016.
India has variety of pageants like Femina Miss India, Miss Diva Universe and Indian Princess. But what were the prime motives of choosing Miss Earth India pageant over others?
Though all the pageants give us the platform to showcase our talent but I was more inclined towards Miss Earth because here we give lot of emphases on environmental causes. Being a nature lover since childhood it’s my privilege to be the part of Miss Earth India 2016.
Which Miss Earth has motivated your drive to participate in Miss Earth India pageant?
Miss Earth 2010, Nicole Faria has motivated my drive to participate in Miss Earth pageant as she was the first Miss Earth India who brought the crown of Miss Earth to our country.
If given a chance to represent India at Miss Earth 2016, how would you reflect the beauty of India at the international arena?
India is known for its diverse culture and the beauty that nature bestowed upon it. I would make sure my presence, my attire and my words make everyone feel about the beauty and rich heritage of India.
Who is your ideal beauty queen and how has she helped you to evolve as a beauty queen?
The beauty queen who inspired me the most is Aishwarya Rai Bacchan as it is not just about winning the crown, the actual journey begins after you are given the opportunity to bear responsibilities of a queen, and I believe she has done justice to it.
What incident in your life made you realize about your passion in pageantry? Who assured you that beauty pageants are totally your cup of tea?
Since my childhood days I was fascinated towards tiaras and loved to watch Miss India, Miss World on TV and used to say my mom I will also become a beauty queen one day. I joined the Tiara Pageant Training Studio by Ritika Ramtri and she supported me and helped me in building confidence and her guidance led me towards the path of Miss Earth India.
What message would you like to give to The Kaleidoscope of Pageantry and your fans reading this interview?
My message to everyone would be that our earth requires our immediate attention. We have extracted so much from her that she is in great danger now is the time to join hands and move forward to preserve the nature before it’s too late. So let’s come to save planet. And I am really thankful to TKOP for this interview and giving me this platform to share my views.
