An Estimation of Femina Miss India 2016 Batch
Femina Miss India is India’s prime and most followed beauty pageant, a fact which makes it one of the most globally recognized national pageant. Femina Miss India has been choosing India’s representative for various international pageants since 52 years. Last year, Femina Miss India 2016 crowned four representatives, Miss World India, Aditi Arya, Miss Supranational India, Aafreen Vaz, Miss Grand India, Vartika Singh and Miss United Continents India, Sushrii Shreya Mishra. This year 21 finalists are vying to fill the shoes of their luminous predecessors.
It would be too early to conclude if the batch is an upgrade or downgrade, since the pageant has not even begun and we are yet to see the web-interviews, introduction videos and the swimsuit portraits and glamshots of the contestants. Facially and exteriorly, the batch seems decent. While last year there were 7-8 neck to neck front runners, this year the battle seems to be less competitive. Only one Femina crossover, Sushruthi Krishna is in the batch and there are no pageant veterans other than her, hence the competition becomes a little less cutthroat. Although, Niharika Anand and Vaishanvi Patwardhan have tried their luck at Miss Earth India 2015.
While last year’s batch winners, Vartika Singh went on to become second runner up at Miss Grand International 2015, Aafreen Vaz not only became the Top 10 finalist at Miss Supranational 2015, but also bagged the Continental Title of Miss Asia and Oceania. Sushrii Shreya Mishra won the third runner up position at Miss United Continents 2015. However, Miss World India, Aditi Arya could not make the cut in the quarter finals of Miss World 2015, though she gave a good performance by placing as Top 5 finalist at Multimedia fastrack, Top 32 Top Model Round and Talent Round, and Top 20 Beauty with a Purpose at Miss World 2015. Also, Top 10 finalist of Femina Miss India 2015, Rushali Rai went on to become first runner up at India’s Next Top Model Season 1. Thus, it would be appropriate to say that last year’s batch was highly talented, competitive and bright, and they have set the bars really high. Hence, this year it would be worth noticing if the batch could live up to the expectations of their predecessors.
Though we are yet to know more of the contestants, Sushruthi Krishna is the biggest front runner of the pageant right now. Sushruthi is a classical dancer, has been doing charitable works since a long time and has a highly pleasant personality. Adya Niraj, who is also a law student, is great contestant this year. Next we have Rajkanya Baruah and Priyadarshini Chatterjee, who are very professional models and are slaying the competition with their charisma. Namrata Sheth is the face of the pageant as she is killing her fans with that exuberant smile. Sanjana GL’s pleasant personality is truly commendable, she looks fresh and bold!
Dnyanda Shringarpure, Akshita Yadav, Aishwarya Sheoran, Vaishnavi Patwardhan and Roshmitha Harimurthy also seem to have got potential. Pankhuri Gidwani by winning Campus Princess has asserted her effervescence and she is definitely one to watch for.
This year Femina Miss India should crown a woman who is genuinely passionate and has the zeal to learn the lessons given by the grooming experts. Last year, Vartika Singh ardently transformed herself into a beauty queen from an aspiring beauty queen, all thanks to her dedication and passion! While the gestures, poise, walk and posing can be taught with passing time, passion branches off from within. If a girl is passionate enough to take up all the lessons ardently, no one can stop her from giving her best!
The organization should look for a complete package as needed for Miss World. The winner should have a good stage presence, elegant ramp walk, confidence to face the camera, good communication skills and must be very down to earth. The winner should be talented in some area of expertise, which might help her to place in the Talent Round. She must be a fitness freak and should be good in sports to place at the Sports round. Moreover, she must be very voguish when it comes to dressing sense, in order to shine out in the Top Model round. The Miss World India shall walk in her attire with sheer confidence, highlighting whatever the dress she is carrying was meant only for her! She must be very confident and genuine while speaking in public. And lastly but importantly, a good “Beauty with a Purpose” project is a must watch!
The Femina Miss India organization should also try to conduct a press conference in order to assess the genuine eloquence of the contestants, and should try to evaluate the girls on their overall code of conduct!
The contestants should be exposed to swimsuit rounds, since the runner ups of Femina Miss India 2016 also compete at other international pageants, which have the swimsuit competition contrary to Miss World.
With this I conclude my review of Femina Miss India 2016 batch.
